Why Agadir is unique for riding

Before getting into details, a note on what makes Agadir so special for motorcycles: the city enjoys a subtropical oceanic mild climate, with over 300 days of sunshine per year and temperatures rarely dropping below 15°C.

Unlike inland Morocco (Marrakech, Fes, Ouarzazate) that can hit 45°C in summer, Agadir is constantly cooled by Atlantic trade winds. And unlike the northern cities (Tangier, Casa), it gets far less rain.

Result: a playground practicable almost all the time, with very stable weather conditions.

Month-by-month climate

January - February: mild and quiet

Temperatures: 9°C to 22°C Rain: moderate (1 to 2 days per month) For riding: excellent, plan a warm layer for early morning

Low tourist season: few crowds, low prices. Sea water stays cool (around 18°C) but trails are accessible. Backcountry landscapes are lush after the autumn rains, making it magical for photographers.

Tip: bring a thermal base layer under your enduro gear. At 9 a.m., it can be chilly.

March - April: the perfect period

Temperatures: 12°C to 25°C Rain: rare For riding: ideal

This is probably the best time to ride in Agadir. Mild temperatures, still-green landscapes (wildflowers cover the backcountry), generous sun but not scorching, and fewer people than in summer.

April is often cited as the perfect month to visit Agadir. Coming out of winter, temperatures climb gently, days grow longer, and all trails are ridable.

If you can choose, aim for March-April.

May - June: warm but pleasant

Temperatures: 14°C to 28°C Rain: very rare (nearly nonexistent in June) For riding: very good, early morning starts recommended

Temperatures rise but the ocean breeze tempers them. Trails stay ridable all day. Tourist high season starts in June, the atmosphere gets lively.

Tip: ride in the morning and late afternoon to avoid the 1-4 p.m. heat.

July - August: Moroccan summer

Temperatures: 18°C to 30°C (sometimes higher with the chergui) Rain: nil For riding: possible but demanding

It’s summer. On the coast, Agadir stays relatively bearable thanks to the ocean (often 5-10°C cooler than Marrakech at the same time). But inland, it can get very hot.

Watch out for the chergui, a hot dry wind from the Sahara that can spike temperatures by 10-15°C in a few hours. This phenomenon is rarer in Agadir than in Marrakech but can happen.

To ride in Agadir summer, you adapt:

Very early start (7-8 a.m.) to be back before noon
Increased hydration
Possible late-afternoon session (6-8 p.m.) with the low sun giving beautiful light

September - October: the second perfect window

Temperatures: 15°C to 29°C Rain: very light For riding: excellent

Along with March-April, this is the second-best period to ride. Summer heat fades, summer tourists leave, and landscapes take on a magnificent golden hue. Evening light is golden, perfect for photography.

October is often considered an ideal month in Morocco in general.

November - December: mild, quiet, occasional rain

Temperatures: 9°C to 25°C Rain: moderate (3-4 days per month) For riding: good, with a few days to avoid

Temperatures stay pleasant during the day. A few rainy episodes can make some trails slippery for 24-48h, but they dry fast. It’s also a very quiet tourism period.

Tip: check local weather before booking. A rainy day in Agadir remains rare but can happen.
